CHAIRMAN OF NBPOL VISITS DAMI OIL PALM RESEARCH STATION

 

“Dato Henry Sackville Barlow, the Chairman of New Britain Palm Oil Limited (NBPOL), a subsidiary of Sime Darby Plantations, visited Dami Oil Palm Research Station (OPRS) On the 31st of August 2022.  Mr Barlow was accompanied by NBPOL’s CEO, Mr Mohd Azlan Shah, NBPOL’s Head of Plantation, Mr Tan Tee Ung and other executives.

 

All the Section Heads welcomed his brief visit.  Managers of NBPOL’s Dami Oil Palm Research Station and representing PNG OPRA were our Head of SSR, Mr Steven Nake, Head of Finance & Administration, Ms Jenny Ramoi and the Head of Crop Protection, Dr Emad Jaber.

 

There was a presentation by Oil Palm Breeder Mrs Ruth Jordan-Som, followed by a short tour of the Bunch Analysis Laboratory, where he was shown the Lab and the Oil Palm Extraction Room, which according to Mr Barlow, “He had never seen anything like this….”

He was later led to PNGOPRA’s Plant Pathology Nursery, where Miss. Maria Zacchaeus, the Nursery Assistant, demonstrated briefly how they infect oil palm seeds with Ganoderma for research into Ganoderma Tolerant Palms.  Mr Barlow concluded his tour at the CRB-G Lab.  He had a lot of questions from start to finish, all of which were satisfactorily addressed.

 

Mr Barlow was very impressed with the work and research being carried out by both Dami OPRS and PNGOPRA.
