Hoskins Oil Palm Growers Association (HOPGA) has new Executives.

Thursday 27th May 2021 saw the election and commissioning of new executives to the Hoskins Oil Palm Growers Association office. Representatives from OPIC witnessed this small but significant event, the Smallholder department of NBPOL, PNG Oil Palm Research Association (PNGOPRA) and WNB Provincial DAL. 

Polling commenced in April with the election of the Area Committees (phase 1) and Area Chairmen (phase 2). The final phase completed on Thursday by bringing in all 40 Area Chairmen to elect the new Executives. The Executive Chairman automatically becomes the National OPIC Board Director. Below are the newly elected executives:

  1. Executive Chairman – Augustine Kapi
  2. Executive Vice Chairman – Michael Loga
  3. Executive Public Officer – Joe Gamba
  4. Executive Treasurer – Bruno Valuku 

Congratulations to the newly elected Executives, and we look forward to working closely with them in pursuing smallholder oil palm growers’ interest in the Hoskins Project. The former Chairman, Mr Patrick Reu and his executives, acknowledged their contributions to HOPGA and the project during their term in office.  

The election was guided very closely by the Provincial Electoral Manageress as the Returning Officer while David Naon, the Acting Field Manager of OPIC as Assistant Returning Officer and the six Divisional Managers as the Presiding Officers.
